睡谷傳奇 (無頭谷+李伯大夢)

I have read another version of this story few years ago. “Rip Van Winkle and the legend of Sleepy Hollow”, both stories take place in American villages in the 18^th century.

In the legend of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod is a school teacher who falls in love with Katrina. However, Katrina, who is the daughter of a rich farmer, has many admirers. Brom is Ichadbod’s big rival. There are some rumours about bizarre spirits in the valley. The most famous one is the headless horseman. Ichabod goes home alone after a dance with Katrina. He hears a strange sound and a horseman is coming…

In the story of “Rip Van Winkle”, Rip lives in a village at the foot of the Catskill Mountains. One afternoon, he goes up the hill and he meets a stranger. They drink together and soon Rip falls asleep. When he wakes up the next morning, there are big changes in his village.

Washington Irving is one of the famous writers in American literature. You can read his most famous stories, “Rip Van Winkle and the legend of Sleepy Hollow”(F IRV) in the school library.

我數年前讀過”Rip Van Winkle and the legend of Sleepy Hollow”《李伯大夢》及《睡谷故事》(無頭谷)，兩個故事都是發生在十八世紀的美國村莊。

在《睡谷故事》中，老師Ichabod愛上了Katrina，但富農女兒Katrina卻有很多追求者，Brom是Ichabod的強大對手。傳聞睡谷有古怪的幽靈，最著名的是無頭騎士。Ichabod與Katrina共舞後獨自回家，他聽到背後傳來詭異的聲音，無頭騎士迅速迫近……

《李伯大夢》的故事，Rip居住在Catskill山下的村落，某個下午他上山遇到陌生漢，兩人暢飲而Rip很快睡著了。第二天早上Rip醒來，村落起了翻天覆地的變化。
